Task management 42tasks also (soon) for Ubuntu / Linux
Filed under: World;No Comments
Task management programs are currently somehow the big hit. Programs or Web services such as Getting Things GNOME, Remember The Milk, Springpad, Licorize list sprouting like weeds or sore from the floor. List just wonderful – the way from Germany – seems like netzwertig.com reported to be quite a success story.Risk-capital 500,000 euros, 800,000 downloads of the app and 300,000 users in a short time, are a clear signal for a successful startup. However, all these services is a problem: Who is looking for a native Linux application and would have the option to manage to-dos or mobile on an Android phone, which is still there with empty hands. I help my date with the Google Tasks, but these are not available offline on the computer. So I'm curious 42tasks to the new competitor who has also announced an application for Ubuntu / Linux.

Currently there are only
42tasks as a web application. Applications for Mac, Windows, iOS and even just Ubuntu / Linux are in the works. According to @ 42tasks is the iPhone app next week. Ubuntu One application is to follow in early March 2011. Android to I could find anything yet, unfortunately, so far, but I doubt now that the most successful smartphone platform will remain long out of it.
From the Ubuntu version is a screenshot of the first alpha, but unfortunately disappointed me somewhat. It looks like that is nothing more than a 42tasks for Ubuntu by no-frills desktop browser on the retrieved Web page. Thus, it is probably not possible to manage their tasks and offline. An official statement on this, I have not, I hope I am wrong on this point.
Remains to be seen what comes ultimately from 42tasks. The guys are wonderful list if the new competition, which has copied his own service rather bluntly, not overly enthusiastic. ISTS I do not care. As I have from the 6wunderkindern not get a response if a Linux version of the desktop clients is planned, I'm glad if 42tasks solid Android and Linux applications, and introduces the service via the web front end will be good to use. Then there was finally a good cross-platform solution that is of interest to Linux users. Now you just have an open API so that other task managers can move their data to 42tasks.
