Acer Aspire One with Intel Atom N550 Happy

The Aspire One Happy comes from Acer from the outset with Windows 7 and Android. The device is equipped with an Atom N550 CPU from Intel, and unfortunately – as usual, distributed a glossy display with 1024 × 576 pixels to 10.1 inches. There are also 1024MB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. So overall current netbook technology and facilities.

    The special is

But as I said initially, the option to start the device with the Android OS. Thus, the netbook will start in a few moments, and the battery can hold out even longer theoretical. “Unfortunately,” will “only” giving away a version without 3G. Currently, the Acer Aspire One Happy for 329 € at Amazon is sold.

Regarding Ubuntu and Linux are a bit thin, unfortunately the information. I could find on the net virtually no information about it. Probably the device is simply too new. Since most netbooks but anyway come from a large building block, it will sooner or later be possible to use a recent Linux distribution to get the device up and running. Maybe it works even now without any problems.

Toshiba AC 100 Smartbook with NVIDIA Tegra 2 and UMTS

Unlike the Aspire One is the Toshiba AC 100 Smartbook a pure Android device. Toshiba calls this class of devices called “Cloud Companion.” Consequently, the device is only equipped with an 8 GB memory card. A large hard disk is not even provided. It can own the data on the built-in UMTS module is loaded from the Internet. The enthusiasm for this technology has its limits. Netbooknews.de as well as the reviews on Amazon are rather reserved.

Nevertheless, the device can offer stuff. The power is enough to play 1080p HD video. The battery lasts up to 8 hours by allegedly. In standby, the battery is empty after about 7 days. The whole thing is just a 14 mm thick and placed 900 grams heavy casing. So if an ultra-portable typewriter with multimedia-enabled Internet searches that might with the Toshiba AC 100 may be satisfied.

As an extra on top of it, it is possible to install Ubuntu on the netbook Maverick. The porting of Ubuntu on the Toshiba AC 100 is still a bit hacklig, but the community continues to work actively in the implementation.

Is currently traded the Toshiba AC 100 for € 239 at Amazon. Actually, very little for a very compact netbook with 10 “display and UMTS. However, life is just so that the device has virtually no built-in storage space and the “desktop-compatible” software in our Amazon Marketplace sown rather thin.'s
