    Get with the Emerillon OpenStreetMap on the desktop

    Filed under: Coutry;

    OpenStreeMap particularly in Germany is so complex and burdensome that they are commercial products such as Google or Yahoo Maps certainly can hold a candle. I find it in the browser to use but somewhat slow. Here the mapping program Emerillon steps into the breach. Named after a nomadic tribe from French Guiana Emerillon brings the OSM, the OpenCycleMap as well as the public transport map on your desktop.

    From Ubuntu Karmic Koala

    Can install the program it from a private repository. If someone already on the road with his Ubuntu Lucid 10:04, then it goes from one source. Otherwise, a second package is missing from this source. In order to make it you simply dissipates Ubuntu Karmic commands …

    $ Sudo apt-add-repository ppa: mathieu-tl/emerillon$ Sudo apt-add-repository ppa: audidude / ppa # with karmic only necessary$ Sudo apt-get update$ Sudo apt-get install Emerillon

    … and from your webspace for Emerillon under 'Applications ->Accessories ->Map Viewer “program. As you will see that the program still lacks a program icon. Would be nice if someone could put here with a talent for drawing in conjunction with the makers

    Me personally, the search has a bit confused. I had on “Edit ->Preferences” activate the Search plug-in and then sought via Ctrl + F or simply by entering a keyword. Result? None … for a search, it's not enough to turn off the plugin, you must also via “View ->Toolbar” to activate the toolbar. There you will find on the box then you can initiate a local search.

    It would be interesting to know whether routing is planned to be created from Emerillon out. Champlain to # unfortunately I have to get a reply, you have any information?
