    Filter out comments with Shut Up and Chrome / Chromium from blogs and news sites

    Filed under: Thoughts;

    Comments are the icing on the cake of a blogger. Although clicks on advertising or Flattr buttons a thing or two rolls paid, but are comments on the feedback that is most dear to me. So I'm always happy when you are interested my sums so much that you leave me your thoughts and suggestions. As a “consumer” aka annoying attachments reader long comment but also likes me, even more so when bloggers rely on external JavaScript monsters like Disqus, Intense Debate and Co.. The Custom Style Sheet shutup.css displayed as an add-on for Chrome, Safari or Firefox comments on blogs only when needed.

    Worked really well the whole thing if you Chrome / Chromium and Shut Up extension uses. Then there is a small button in the menu bar, on the one comments on a domain in need of or can switch off. The extension memorizes the settings for each site so you can actively on one side of the house have comments, leave it hidden in another.

    The comments and all that belongs to are displayed not in fact, not only, but also only loaded when you can view the comments. This saves loading time and traffic on JavaScript-heavy comment systems and performance. So it's ideal if you're traveling with a netbook and UMTS connections in the network.

    On the Fast

    The times I've tested with all major blog systems. In WordPress, Drupal or Serendipity On request the comments are hidden behaved, happy you are for some news sites like Golem. For the fun of it here is a brief demonstration had, yes once again try gtk-recordmydesktop.
