    Vodafone Webbook with Ubuntu preinstalled Oneiric (only in South Africa)

    Filed under: Interesting;

    As much as it pleases me that Canonical does again with a reputable partner with a preinstalled Ubuntu computers on the market, but even though I like Linux machine on the market see a Linux netbook is in the times of fast and Tablets also quite affordable yet somehow anachronistic. With the 1499 border is not betrayed.

    Image can be seen that an Ubuntu Oneiric 11:10 by Unity as the shell is used. Although Unity is strongly criticized in the Ubuntu community, I think it's good that a current system is used all too often there was only one Asbach-Ubuntu as an option, given the long lead times for computer manufacturers were far too long. How much fun Unity makes on an older computer, however, remains to be seen. From my experience with Lenovo S12 Oneiric with Unity is very useful, if not a rocket. [UPDATE: Sebastian has noted in the comments, that this is surely to Natty.]

    However

    Ubuntu riding a dead horse here, for example, Dell has stopped production of netbooks. Even otherwise, the demand for netbooks thanks to the compact yet powerful and ultra-Books and the Android tablet glut probably become manageable. Pity, but netbooks were probably only a small bonfire in the history of the portable computer.
