Dropbox for Nautilus extension under GNOME3 (ie Ubuntu Natty GNOME3 with PPA or Oneiric) use
Filed under: Other;No Comments
A little tip for those who already have GNOME3 and therefore Nautilus 3.x GNOME3 team from the PPA or directly, for example, installed on Ubuntu Oneiric out of the system. Currently the Dropbox extension has not been adjusted for Nautilus third This means that the synchronization of data in the background while working, but we see neither the synchronization status on the icons to the icons, even the pop-up menu with the Dropbox typical dialogues is extended, then ultimately the functionality of Dropbox also appreciable restriction.

XXXThe problem is not really serious, because it was already installed Dropbox support for GTK +3 in Dropbox, however, is the only extension in the directory / usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0 stored, so that Nautilus 3 is not want to decorate with this extension. A symlink to / usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-3.0 resolves these issues and causes that Dropbox also GNOME3 runs properly again.
XXX$ Cd / usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-3.0$ Sudo ln-s ../extensions-2.0/libnautilus-dropbox.so.$ Nautilus-q
I've tested all this with Ubuntu Natty and the team said GNOME3 Oneiric PPA and Ubuntu. In Fedora 15 seems this little workaround does not seem necessary since the symlink from home during the installation of Dropbox is created, so I ran with Dropbox on Fedora 15 with GNOME3 immediately and without further tinkering.
XXXI just hope that will be updated with the release of Oneiric end of October, the Ubuntu packages of Dropbox, then this action will no longer be necessary. Then it should come with the update of Dropbox problems, you can delete the symlink by hand. However, I suspect that this will automatically “overwrite” the update, the workaround should have no negative impact.
XXX.
